Urban Interactive – Project Development Blog

This is my first blog, so please go easy with me.  I’ve just set it up to record the progress of my latest remake project (Return of the Jedi).  This game will be for the PC and hopefully Linux and OS-X.

Hi! Great work you’re doing… Can’t wait to see the final result! Maybe you already mentioned this and I didn’t see it, but are you planning on releasing this as a kit/upgrade to the original SW arcade machine (please!)? …I’d love to put this baby in my game when it’s done. There are lots of others here in the US that I can promise would buy up your kits in a heartbeat. Or would this be a stand-alone game playable in MAME or something of the like? When do you think you’d be finished at the rate you’re going?

Good luck! I for one will be watching your progress closely!

      Hi Rob,

The game is using opengl so it will be PC / Mac game only. However I did hear a rumour that someone else is actually making a chip for the SW. This is only a rumour, and I don’t have any involvement in that project. As soon as I know more then I will let you know.

I’m not sure when it will be finished, as I have to balance my time with other commitments (wife / baby – due any week now / work / uni / house etc…). I’m enjoying the project though which is always a good thing, and because the graphics are quite simple it means that I can devote more time to gameplay. I’m considering making this project quite open though by posting a few beta versions for feedback, so you should be able to play something during its development.

That’s awesome! Can’t wait to see the finished (or almost-finished) product. If you need a beta tester, don’t hesitate to ask. I hope you somehow find a way to get involved with a kit of some sort for the arcade machine (I know of at least 2 programming gurus that could certainly help you out here in the states should you get curious!) …I’d pick one up from you in a hurry!

Congrats on the new baby, and best of luck with trying to balance work/fun/family (after 3 children of my own I still haven’t found a perfect formula! 🙂

Again, great job! I wish I could do this sort of thing.
