A Little Inspiration…
I’ve been thinking about how to model the X-Wings, and I remembered seeing a youtube video of some game play from a demo on old Sharp machine. After a bit of digging around I found theses…

Back in the day I think these must have looked pretty smart. I’m not sure if the game was ever playable though.

I Can’t wait, this ROTJ is going to be AWESOME
That’s no demo, it’s an actual game…
Seriously, one of the best SW games ever released.
You weren’t fighting alone in this one, as friendly X and Y-wings zoomed around
and you absolutely needed help from Han and the Millenium Falcon to destroy
the Death Star.
You can easily find X68000 emulators on the net, but since you’re trying to replicate the feel of the 80s Atari games, seeing the demo should probably be enough.
Thanks for the info Abu! I will certainly look for an emulator to play this. After seeing this I really want to add X wings and Y wings into the first stage. It was something that was missing in the previous Atari games.
At first I didn’t like the X-Wings in the demo. But after watching the demo again, and seeing how the AT-ATs looked in Atari’s ESB, I now think that the X-Wings will work just fine.
Question is: What color would they be? White with red accents? I only ask this because the cockpit is blue in the game.
Was wondering myself about the colour. So far its white with a red stripe. I guess we will have to see it in play and decide if it looks right.
Any screen shots of the x-wings and y-wings?
X Wing is done. I went through several versions as the initial ones had too much detail. I will post a screenie when I’m back from my hols.
Both game examples are pretty cool. I think the X-wing designs are good. You’ve gone a bit further in the detail of yours, so on both X and Y-wing I think the engine nacelles being rounded some would be a finisher.
